Advent Day 2 - Wrapped in Light

Week of HOPE

Hope is such a powerful motivator...it either leads us in the HOPE of something better, or leads us to despair when there is an absence of hope.  The Lord God always brings HOPE!

Praise the Lord, my soul.
Lord my God, you are very great;
    you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
    he stretches out the heavens like a tent
      and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot
    and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes winds his messengers,
    flames of fire his servants.  PSALM 104:1-4

It's hard for me to imagine the magnitude of the Lord, creator of the universe.  Francis Schaeffer, a Presbyterian minister and writer helped me gain perspective.  The Lord is infinite, and as created beings, we are finite.  There is no way that the finite can fully comprehend the infinite.

He heals the brokenhearted
    and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars;
    he gives to all of them their names.
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
    his understanding is beyond measure (other translations use "without limit", and "infinite").
PSALM 147:4-6

Jesus came to show us the Father.  My understanding of God's love has grown as I have grown in my understanding of Jesus, not as a distant concept of God, but one to be known personally, through His Word and His Holy Spirit.

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. HEBREWS 1:3

For years, I read the Bible and just asked God questions...that's how I prayed.  What God taught me, and continues to teach me is that HE is always FOR us.  He is always beckoning us to know Him through His Son, Jesus.  Do you know Him?

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  JOHN 8:12

Get to know Him... Wrap up in the light of His Word... Ask questions... Find Him trustworthy!

There is always HOPE in the Lord.

Come along on this journey of HOPE!
Get to know the Son as we await His birth!
